Here’s some worry-free steps to safe digging:

Dial 811 or submit a request online at least two (2) business days before the start of any digging project.

MARK YOUR WORK ZONE
Designate your proposed work area with WHITE paint or flags.

WAIT
Allow 48 business hours for the utility companies to locate and mark lines in the work area. Verify all affected utility companies have responded by matching markings listed on your 811 ticket.

RESPECT
Preserve all markings (flags/paint) provided by the utility companies. These markings are your guide for the duration of the project.

CAREFULLY DIG
Maintain an 18” buffer on each side of marked lines and dig with care.
TIP: In Texas, the accepted safety margin or tolerance zone is 18 inches on each side of the marked utility line.
