Our Story
Connecting Rural Texas Since 1953
Colorado Valley Telephone Cooperative (CVCTX) began with a vision: to bring reliable telephone service to the underserved rural communities of Fayette, Lavaca, Colorado, and Lee counties. In 1953, a group of determined local residents formed a cooperative, pooling their resources to build a telecommunications network where none existed.
Looking To The Future: Colorado Valley is actively engaged in an aggressive construction campaign to install fiber and upgrade existing facilities to support faster internet and a positive broadband experience for its customers.
1953
Colorado Valley Telephone Cooperative was chartered in 1953 to provide telephone service to rural areas around La Grange, Texas, which larger companies had deemed too expensive to serve.
1960s
By 1961, the first 550 members were provided telephone service, initially through an eight-party system.
1970s
The Cooperative began converting its central office switching equipment to digital, moving towards more advanced technology.
1980s
1985 we completed an expansion of the company headquarters in downtown La Grange.
1990s
In the 1990s, we launched DSL Internet service and, in 1997, opened our new headquarters on Highway 77 south of La Grange.
Today
Today, the Cooperative’s customers receive state-of-the-industry services through fiber optics and advanced digital switching, including high-speed broadband.
